Our promise to residents
Your logs, your data.
ResQ was built specifically for residents — to take the paperwork off your plate without ever compromising your privacy. Here is exactly what we do, and what we will never do, in plain language.

A note to fellow physicians
Built with your privacy in mind.
As an orthopedic surgeon and a recent graduate of residency, it was important to me to build a tool that eases the administrative burden on physicians while protecting your privacy, autonomy, and professional integrity.
ResQ logs your Clinical and Educational Work Hours seamlessly, with no effort required from you — and a host of features keep you fully in control of how, and whether, your location is ever used.
Few things in life are as sacred and as arduous as the calling and the pathway to becoming a physician. We are honored to support your training while protecting what’s yours.
How location works
We use location for one reason only.
To automatically detect when you enter or exit a WorkZone™, so your hours are logged accurately and your life is a little easier. We ask for location access — including in the background — to do that one job. We never track your movements.
Processed on your phone
Your location is evaluated on your own device to decide whether you’re inside or outside a WorkZone™ — nothing more.
Never sent in identifiable form
Specific coordinates are never passed to our servers tied to you. We don’t store raw GPS, latitude/longitude, or any location history.
Deidentified and deleted
Any location data that leaves the phone for processing is fully deidentified, never sold, and deleted within 7 days.
What we keep
The only thing we store long-term is your WorkTime.
Your identity is only ever attached to this WorkTime data. And you can review and edit any log — before or after you submit it.
You stay in control
Your hours are yours. You decide how they’re logged.
Turn location off entirely
Set your location permission to “Never” and keep using the app fully by entering Time In and Time Out by hand.
AwayMode
Temporarily pause location and automatic logging any time — for the library, a day off, or whenever you like.
Toggle WorkZones™
Switch off logging for any specific WorkZone™ you choose.
Work-from-Home & Quick-Add
Add or edit hours from anywhere — research, telehealth, off-site or home — with no location required.
You can see every WorkZone™ boundary assigned to you right in the app.
Sharing
We never sell your data. Full stop.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we never share it for marketing or unrelated commercial purposes. We share your WorkTime data only in a few limited situations:
With your program
Your Time In, Time Out and WorkZone™ name go to your residency program or GME office so they can monitor ACGME compliance. That’s the whole point of the app.
With your residency management system
When you submit your hours, they sync to the system your program already uses — MedHub, New Innovations or Medtrics — so your logs stay in one place.
With trusted service providers
Vendors like secure cloud hosting or support tools, under contract to protect your data and use it only as we specify.
How long we keep it
We keep it while you need it — and no longer.
We hold your account info and WorkTime data while your account is active and as needed to run the service and meet legal obligations. Deidentified location data processed off your device is deleted within 7 days. You can request deletion any time (subject to any retention your program requires), and once your program no longer needs the data, we delete or anonymize it.
Security
Encrypted, reviewed, and kept separate.
ResQ is built for transparency. We use industry-standard encryption and run regular security reviews. Your work-hours data is stored separately from any clinical records and is not treated as Protected Health Information (PHI).
Your rights
Access, correct, or delete your data any time.
You can request access to or correction of your data through your program administrator or ResQ support, and most logs can be edited or deleted right in the app.
For California residents
Under the CCPA/CPRA you also have the right to know, delete, and correct your information; to limit the use of sensitive information (including precise geolocation); and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your data — though we don’t sell or share your data for cross-context advertising in the first place. To exercise any of these, contact your program administrator or email support@resqmedical.com. We’ll respond within the time the law requires, and we’ll never treat you differently for asking.
Frequently asked
Questions residents ask us.
I’m studying in the library and don’t want those hours logged. What do I do?
Turn on AwayMode. It pauses automatic logging for as long as you like — your hours are yours to control.
How do I know where my hours are being logged?
Open the WorkZones™ tab in the app to see every boundary set up for your program. It’s designed to be completely transparent.
Can anyone use ResQ to track my exact location?
No. ResQ can only tell whether you’re inside or outside a WorkZone™ — never your specific location, and never your movements.
Can I edit my logs before they’re submitted?
Yes. You can review and edit any log before — or after — it’s submitted, and most logs can be edited or deleted right in the app.
Who actually sees my hours?
Your residency program or GME office sees your Time In, Time Out and WorkZone™ name so they can monitor ACGME compliance — that’s the purpose of the app. We never sell your data or share it for marketing.
What happens to my location data after it’s used?
Any location data that leaves your phone for processing is fully deidentified and deleted within 7 days. We never store raw GPS, latitude/longitude, or location history.
Can I delete my data or my account?
Yes. You can request deletion any time by contacting your program administrator or emailing support@resqmedical.com (subject to any retention your program requires). Once your program no longer needs the data, we delete or anonymize it.
I’m a California resident — what are my rights?
Under the CCPA/CPRA you can ask to know, delete, or correct your information, limit the use of sensitive info like precise location, and opt out of any sale or sharing — though we don’t sell or share it in the first place. Email support@resqmedical.com and we’ll respond within the time the law requires.
Could an outside party link our work-hour data back to our institution?
No. We don’t sell work-hour data, and we never share identifiable data with outside parties for marketing or commercial purposes. Your data stays with you and your program.
